- Report any issues to Production Supervisors that may adversely impact safety, production, product quality, or equipment longevity.
- Ensure all required samples are collected, labeled accurately, and documented properly.
- Assist in the initiation and execution of tasks related to starting and stopping plant processes and equipment, minimizing time loss and potential damage during these transitions.
- Support shutdown activities by ensuring equipment is isolated, locked, tagged, and safe for maintenance work.
- Ensure personnel adhere to safety protocols, utilize appropriate PPE, and employ the correct tools for assigned tasks.
- Facilitate effective use of personnel to minimize plant downtime, including routine equipment maintenance, site preparation for maintenance, and assisting with repairs.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of equipment and processes involved in canola oil and meal production, including all preparation, extraction, and steam plant systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate equipment and processes safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with shift crew members, maintenance staff, and contractors to ensure all departmental work is conducted safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation, ensuring the integrity of all departmental records and production reports.
- Exhibit self-motivation and initiative in monitoring and controlling departmental activities, making operational decisions with minimal oversight.
- Note: All employees must undergo training and assessment to confirm their capability to perform this role safely and efficiently. The Production Technician is authorized to operate in all areas of the plant, excluding the Control Room and Boiler Room, and will rotate through the Prep Plant and Extraction Plant to gain familiarity with operational processes and equipment.
Qualifications:
- A valid driver's license in Alberta (Class 5 or equivalent) is required.
- Completion of Grade 12 education is mandatory.
- A minimum of 4th Class Power Engineering Certification or higher is essential.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including days and nights, with potential changes as dictated by business needs.
