Thoracic Surgeon

We are seeking a highly skilled Thoracic Surgeon to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of the thoracic cavity, including the lungs, heart, and esophagus.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose and treat diseases and disorders of the thoracic cavity, including the lungs, heart, and esophagus.
- Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods.
- Prescribe post-operation medication and treatment.
- Treat diseases, injuries, and deformities.
- Prepare research papers for publication and presentation.
- Study the nature, cause, and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases.
- Supervise laboratory activities.
- Act as consultants to other physicians.
- Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination.
- Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.
- Specialization in clinical medicine, including pediatrics.
- Specialization in surgery, including thoracic surgery.
- Security and safety clearance, including criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, medical exam, immunization records, and eligibility for professional liability insurance.
As a Thoracic Surgeon at SickKids, you will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and physically demanding conditions. You will be required to stand for extended periods, walk, and perform repetitive tasks. You must be able to distinguish between colors and have manual dexterity.
