Rehabilitation Therapist Assistant

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to implement rehabilitative treatment plans and programs.
Responsibilities- Implement designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan/program, including activities of daily living, mobility, and strengthening and balancing exercises.
- Monitor and report cognitive and functional changes in patient ability or behavior, and progress treatment plans within established parameters.
- Contribute to the planning, implementation, modification, and evaluation of rehabilitative treatment plans/programs as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform various tests, such as the Berg Balance, Timed Up and Go (TUG), and six-minute walk test, and record and report relevant data for interpretation by the therapist.
- Prepare and apply therapeutic treatment modalities, including transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS), neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), hot packs, ice, and wax treatments.
- Provide functional skills training to patients and families in activities of daily living, mobility, and communication, and demonstrate the use of assistive devices.
- Assist with power and manual wheelchair mobility training, and maintain therapy equipment and supplies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
