**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Life Cycle Management Specialist to join our team at Calian Group. As a Junior Life Cycle Management Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Director of Major Surface Combatant External Communications Technical Authority in updating, maintaining, and managing equipment and systems related to VLF/LF/HF/VHF/UHF/SHF and EHF radio communications on all classes of Royal Canadian Navy ships and auxiliary vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identification and Recommendation of Supporting Material: Identify and recommend supporting material for communications equipment and systems.
  • Preparation of Draft Specifications and Purchase Descriptions: Prepare draft specifications and purchase descriptions for communications equipment and systems.
  • Research and Verification of Procurement Data: Research and verify procurement data and item descriptions for communications equipment and systems.
  • Reviewing Cataloguing Advice and Confirmation Requests: Review cataloguing advice and confirmation requests for communications equipment and systems.
  • Requesting Canadian Forces Technical Orders ID Numbers: Request Canadian Forces Technical Orders ID numbers for maintenance documentation.
  • Reviewing Repairable Material Requests: Review repairable material requests and recommend disposition.
  • Reviewing Repairable Arising Checklist Sheets: Review repairable arising checklist sheets for technical content and make recommendations to item managers.
  • Responding to Queries from Supply Managers: Respond to queries from supply managers and provide technical advice.
  • Reviewing and Modifying Material/Equipment Specifications: Review and modify material/equipment specifications.
  • Advising on Disposition of Expired Material: Advise on disposition of expired material.
  • Participating in Set-to-Work Trials: Participate in set-to-work trials.
  • Providing Engineering, Technical, and Maintenance Support: Provide engineering, technical, and maintenance support to the Fleet Maintenance Facilities.
  • Assisting in Preparing Specifications: Assist in preparing specifications for third-line refits and equipment repair procedures.
  • Preparing and Processing Engineering Change Documentation: Prepare and process engineering change documentation within the divisional framework for project approval and implementation.
  • Developing Technical Guidance Packages: Develop technical guidance packages to support the development of detailed engineering specifications.
  • Reviewing and Redline-Correcting Detailed Engineering Specifications: Review and redline-correct detailed engineering specifications produced by FMF or other design agents.
  • Developing, Reviewing, and Verifying Test Sheets: Develop, review, and verify test sheets for in-service equipment and systems.
  • Developing, Reviewing, and Verifying Trial Agendas: Develop, review, and verify trial agendas for in-service equipment and systems.
  • Developing, Reviewing, and Verifying Planned Maintenance Schedules: Develop, review, and verify planned maintenance schedules for in-service equipment and systems.
  • Developing, Reviewing, and Verifying Equipment Support Lists: Develop, review, and verify equipment support lists for in-service equipment and systems.
  • Reviewing, Editing, and Verifying Technical Publications: Review, edit, and verify technical publications for in-service equipment and systems.
  • Reviewing and Recommending Repair and Overhaul Specifications: Review and recommend repair and overhaul specifications, standard ships maintenance and repair specifications, and training documentation.
  • Assisting in the Production of Statements of Requirement: Assist in the production of statements of requirement, statements of work, and evaluation criteria for procurement of new material and systems.
  • Producing Naval Equipment Modification Documentation: Produce naval equipment modification documentation (CANAVMODS) and technical bulletins (TBs).
  • Assisting in the Preparation and Execution of Technical Evaluations: Assist in the preparation and execution of technical evaluations and operational evaluations.
  • Reviewing and Identifying Equipment Containing Hazardous Components: Review and identify equipment containing hazardous components or materials.
  • Reviewing and Advising on Equipment Obsolescence Issues: Review and advise on equipment obsolescence issues.
  • Providing Technical Support to Identify Radio Frequency Hazards: Provide technical support to identify radio frequency hazards to personnel, ordinance, and fuel.
  • Providing Technical Support to Identify Radio Frequency Compatibility and Interference Issues: Provide technical support to identify radio frequency compatibility and interference issues for new or existing equipment installations.
  • Evaluating and Recommending Responses to Unsatisfactory Condition Reports: Evaluate and recommend responses to unsatisfactory condition reports.

Qualifications:

  • Secret-Level II Clearance: Must currently hold a valid Secret-Level II clearance with the Government of Canada.
  • Life Cycle Material Management Experience: Two (2) years of experience, within the last ten (10) years, supporting life cycle material management functions for naval communications systems.
