Precision Machinist

As a Machinist, your primary responsibility will be to fabricate components for various aircraft engines, including PT6A, JT15D, and PW100 models. Additionally, you will be tasked with creating fixtures and tooling for the Machine Shop and other departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform machining on parts that are undergoing repair to restore them to specified tolerances and features as outlined in repair documentation.
- Produce tooling, jigs, and fixtures according to detailed engineering drawings.
- Manufacture small components, such as sleeves, based on detailed part specifications.
- Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of machinery to ensure optimal performance and maintain a tidy work environment.
- Exhibit behaviors that align with quality standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental management practices.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a provincial or inter-provincial license as a machinist or tool & die maker and demonstrate the ability to work at that level.
- A solid understanding of geometric tolerancing and the ability to interpret CMM reports is essential.
- Proficiency in using standard measuring tools is required.
- Familiarity with all relevant documentation pertaining to the machine shop is necessary.
- Entry-level candidates for the Apprentice Machinist position should have completed block 1 training from an accredited institution. Toolmaker apprentices are also eligible, although there is no specific apprenticeship for this trade. Apprentices must complete all required blocks and pass qualifying exams, totaling 8000 hours and completion of Block 4 exams to obtain licensure.
Work Environment
- This role requires awareness of the following conditions:
- Willingness to navigate various areas of the facility throughout the day.
- Ability to perform some heavy lifting as necessary.
- Mandatory use of safety shoes and safety glasses (PPE).
- Masks and respirators will be utilized as needed.
- A shift system is in place, and overtime may be necessary to meet production requirements.
