Precision Machinist

As a Machinist, your primary responsibility will be to fabricate components for PT6A, JT15D, and PW100 engines. Additionally, you will be tasked with creating fixtures and tooling for the Machine Shop and other departments as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Machining of components that are undergoing repair to restore specific features to acceptable tolerances in terms of size and positioning as outlined in the repair documentation.
- Fabrication of tooling, jigs, and fixtures based on detailed engineering drawings.
- Production of small components, such as sleeves, in accordance with detailed part specifications.
- Regular maintenance and cleaning of machinery, ensuring that workspaces are kept tidy and free from debris and machining waste.
- Exemplifying behaviors that align with quality standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental management practices.
Qualifications
- All qualified Machinists must possess either a provincial or inter-provincial license as a machinist or tool & die maker and demonstrate the ability to work at that level.
- A solid understanding of geometric tolerancing and the ability to interpret CMM reports is essential.
- Proficiency in the use of standard measuring tools is required.
- All personnel must be adept at understanding and utilizing relevant documentation pertaining to the machine shop.
- Entry-level candidates for the Apprentice Machinist position should have completed block 1 training from an accredited institution, such as Holland College. Toolmaker apprentices may also qualify, although there is no specific apprenticeship for this trade. Apprentices must complete and pass each training block, totaling 8000 hours, along with passing Block 4 exams to achieve licensure as a machinist.
Work Environment
- This role requires an awareness of the following conditions:
- Willingness to navigate various areas of the facility throughout the day.
- Occasional heavy lifting may be necessary.
- Mandatory use of safety shoes and safety glasses (PPE).
- Use of masks and respirators where applicable.
- A shift system is in place, and overtime may be necessary to meet production requirements.
