About the Position

The Clinical Respiratory Therapist is responsible for executing duties as outlined by the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists' Scope of Practice and the policies of the institution. This role is integral to achieving the objectives of the Cardio-Respiratory Department. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, implementing treatment plans, evaluating patient progress, and educating individuals requiring respiratory care.

The Clinical Respiratory Therapist gathers comprehensive patient histories and evaluates the clinical relevance of therapist-driven protocols in relation to respiratory care. A thorough respiratory assessment is conducted, with ongoing evaluation of treatment effectiveness and necessary adjustments made to care plans based on patient needs and anticipated outcomes. Additionally, the therapist is responsible for developing and executing respiratory discharge plans. Availability for on-call shifts is required.

Recruitment Benefits

Eligible candidates may receive a signing bonus ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, along with relocation assistance of up to $5,000, contingent upon a defined Return of Service agreement.

Candidate Profile

We invite applications from individuals who possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and registered with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or a commitment to obtain these certifications.
  • Current Heart & Stroke BCLS (Level C) Certification is mandatory.
  • Preferred membership in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
  • Completion of hospital-based certification and recertification processes is essential for ongoing employment.
  • Strong prioritization, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under time constraints are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a collaborative team player is essential.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.

Work Schedule
  • Permanent, Full-time position(s); 75 hours bi-weekly.
Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage is $40.66.

Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service agreement.
