Job Summary
William Osler Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, which are essential for patient care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify laboratory results for accuracy and investigate unexpected abnormal results according to laboratory policies and procedures.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment.
- Monitor quality control results and respond appropriately to discordant results.
- Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, and storage for sample processing and analysis.
- Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up.
- Assist with bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests.
- Participate in the laboratory quality management system and process improvements.
- Perform other procedures and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Medical laboratory technologist with CSMLS certification.
- Current registration with CMLTO in good standing.
- Minimum two years recent chemistry experience in a hospital laboratory setting, or must demonstrate successful completion of all relevant education within the past two years.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity, competence, and professionalism.
- Able to evaluate and analyze information to facilitate continuous improvement of the laboratory process in the interest of quality patient care.
- Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proven ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and Microsoft Office an asset.
- Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work ethic.
- May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites.
