About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. As a key member of our Histology department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality laboratory services, including grossing specimens, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining. You will also be responsible for ensuring sample identification is correct and specimen requirements meet established procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality laboratory services in a timely manner
- Perform all aspects of Histology, including grossing specimens, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining
- Ensure sample identification is correct and specimen requirements meet established procedures
- Maintain patient confidentiality and accuracy of documentation
- Ensure quality control standards and perform routine maintenance on lab equipment

Requirements
- CMLTO Registration as a practicing Medical Laboratory Technologist in good standing
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook at an intermediate level
- Solid ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide recommendations for resolution
- Ability to thrive independently and apply sound decision making principles in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues

Working Conditions
- Normal office environment
- Medical laboratory environment
- Required walking with repetitive motions
- May sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use
- Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required
- Exposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances
