The Head of Compensation and Benefits will oversee the strategic planning, design, execution, and management of the company's compensation frameworks and initiatives. This position ensures that compensation practices are competitive, fair, and aligned with the organization's objectives. The role requires both strategic development and hands-on support.
Key Responsibilities:
Formulate and execute comprehensive compensation strategies that align with the organization's goals, ensuring competitive and equitable pay structures. Design and manage compensation programs, including salary structures, annual merit increases, bonus schemes, and executive compensation packages. Administer long and short-term equity programs and executive compensation initiatives that enhance company performance. Conduct analyses and benchmarking of compensation data against market standards to maintain competitiveness and regulatory compliance. Ensure adherence to federal and local laws and regulations in all compensation practices. Lead job evaluation processes, including job analysis, job descriptions, and grading systems. Develop and manage the approved compensation budget, ensuring cost-effective resource utilization. Integrate compensation programs with performance management systems to establish a strong connection between pay and performance. Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure employees comprehend the company's compensation philosophy and programs. Provide expert advice and insights to senior management and HR partners on compensation trends and policy recommendations to support strategic planning. Champion robust data collection and analysis processes that support research, market pay equity, and other compensation studies. Collaborate with HR and operational leaders to create and update job descriptions, ensuring accurate reflection of roles and responsibilities for proper compensation alignment. Support annual processes such as salary reviews, bonus distributions, and equity compensation to ensure timely and accurate execution. Prepare detailed compensation reports and presentations for executive leadership, highlighting trends, analyses, and recommendations. Lead special compensation initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions integration, pay equity audits, and the adoption of new compensation technologies. Maintain accurate compensation data and ensure integrity within HRIS systems. Stay informed about regulatory, market, and practice changes and trends.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (CCP) is preferred. A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in compensation management, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. Demonstrated financial acumen and expertise in data analysis and financial modeling. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize input from various sources to develop impactful recommendations. Exceptional communication skills, capable of delivering clear and concise messaging to diverse audiences and presenting complex information effectively. Strong relationship-building and influencing abilities, with a collaborative approach to prioritizing business needs.
