The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Plant Operator to join our team at the Dawson North Facility. As a Plant Operator, you'll be responsible for executing various operational tasks, taking direction from the Plant Lead Operator. You'll have the knowledge, experience, and required skills to safely and efficiently run and maintain all plant process and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a shift engineer and follow and adhere to all Technical Safety guidelines.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment, aligning and setting daily priorities set out by the Plant Lead Operator.
  • Effectively communicate with the shift leads and outside operators to execute on all tasks.
  • Influence a safe and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization, working closely with Shift Lead and Lead Operator.
  • Monitor and control plant processing conditions utilizing SCADA control systems when required.
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant process and control room areas.
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response, follow safe work procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements. Responsible for corrective action if required.
  • Ensure work order, operations improvement processes are followed.
  • Maintain proper documentation including plant log, maintenance records, safety & environment reports, etc.
  • Assist with special projects, including turnarounds planning, idea gathering sessions.
  • Track and maintain key performance indicators such as production, downtime and production losses.
  • Acts as support in an emergency as required utilizing the ICS system.
  • Assists in investigating and reporting incidents and accidents as requested.

Qualifications

  • British Columbia or Inter-Provincial 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate with the ability to complete a 3rd class.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of operational or Industry experience.
  • Previous experience working experience with Maximo is preferred.
  • ICS-100.
  • Operational & Maintenance experience in gas compression, dehydration, and NGL recovery is preferred.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in use and application of PC programs specifically in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Workday.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and is open to take on a variety of operational challenges.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with proven analytical, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Must live within the Dawson Creek catchment area.

Compensation

Ovintiv offers a competitive benefits package and a hiring salary range of $86,000 - $115,000 CAD. Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
