About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Geriatrician to join their team at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish. As a Geriatrician, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation and leadership in the care of frail elderly patients on the inpatient Geriatric Assessment and Rehab Unit, inpatient service, and outpatient clinic.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation and leadership in the care of frail elderly patients on the inpatient Geriatric Assessment and Rehab Unit, inpatient service, and outpatient clinic.
  • Support community hospitals in the region and develop the service within the zone.
  • Participate in the stroke program for acute stroke care and stroke rehab.
  • Collaborate with the Nova Scotia Health Frailty Network to implement frailty in the Emergency Department.
  • Participate in on-call coverage with colleagues from the Department of Internal Medicine.
Expected Hours
  • Full-time
  • On-call requirement (1:7)
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of Geriatric Medicine training as part of Internal Medicine training OR Care of Elderly (COE) Certification in addition to Family Medicine CCFP.
  • Membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
