Position Overview:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the ideal candidate will be dedicated to delivering high-quality products by guiding team members to uphold safety, environmental, and process compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the continuous development, performance, and daily management of assigned shift personnel to ensure quality benchmarks are met and production efficiency is enhanced.
  • Strategically plan and coordinate scheduling for the production team.
  • Provide leadership in a unionized setting, including managing employee performance and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Enhance existing processes through the application of lean methodologies and maintain comprehensive departmental documentation.
  • Assess training and development needs, fostering personal growth opportunities for employees while motivating them to achieve their goals.
  • Facilitate training, cross-training, and employee rotation for product, process, and professional development.
  • Ensure that all employees are well-versed in safety, production, and quality procedures.
  • Adhere to company and OSHA safety regulations, conducting safety inspections as necessary.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings to communicate updates on safety, quality, and production objectives.
  • Evaluate team members' performance and track their progress towards skill enhancement.
  • Develop, propose, and implement strategies to improve production methods, equipment efficiency, and product quality.
  • Operate in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality protocols.
  • Identify and address production challenges efficiently, assisting in resolving quality-related issues.
  • Investigate and compile reports on safety incidents, near-misses, and hazard identifications.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment is maintained consistently.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow production supervisors to ensure operational consistency.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, ideally in industrial technology, engineering, business administration, or management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity; experience in high-speed, continuous process manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities, coupled with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing context.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities to effectively manage a diverse workforce.
  • Outstanding communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and analytical abilities.
  • Proven success in operational improvements through employee engagement and demonstrated team-building skills.
  • Exceptional time management, planning, and organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Workday time and attendance systems is beneficial.
