Junior Laboratory Analyst - Metals Speciation

Position Overview

This role is essential within the Speciation team of the Trace Metals Department. The laboratory analyst will engage in comprehensive laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards and efficient turnaround times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate laboratory instruments according to established protocols;
  • Conduct regular calibration, maintenance, and repairs of equipment;
  • Plan and schedule laboratory tasks effectively;
  • Prepare necessary reagents, standards, and reference materials;
  • Execute data processing tasks, including calculations and archival;
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation;
  • Review data meticulously to ensure accuracy;
  • Collaborate with Client Services for effective communication;
  • Implement quality control measures consistently;
  • Adhere to safety protocols during all laboratory activities;
  • Deliver precise results to clients promptly;
  • Make technical decisions for complex analyses;
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and QA/QC guidelines;
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and ALS policies;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated;
  • Capable of inspiring and guiding team members;
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities;
  • Professional demeanor in team interactions;
  • Familiarity with LIMS and data entry processes;
  • Experience with laboratory instrument software.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a related field;
  • 2-3 years of experience in an analytical laboratory is advantageous;
  • Previous exposure to trace metals analysis is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs;
  • Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods;
  • Perform repetitive tasks throughout the work shift.
