About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Economist to join our Healthcare Evaluative Research team at the Ontario Medical Association. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis in the areas of health services research and/or health economics to support health policy evaluation and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting Research and Analysis
    • Prepare academic research papers related to physician and population health interests;
    • Conduct analysis using large healthcare administrative databases, survey datasets, and external data sources as appropriate to address policy relevant research questions;
    • Collaborate with other departments in evaluating existing datasets and identify information gaps that need to be filled;
  • Developing Reports and Presentations
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and data visualizations for various departments, committees, and other partners to explain research and analytic findings;
    • Develop and strengthen relationships with external partners to identify opportunities to share information, collaborate on projects, and influence outcomes;
  • Requirements and Qualifications
    • PhD in Health Services Research, Economics, or equivalent;
    • 2-5 years' relevant experience;
    • Demonstrated expertise with statistical/economic software, including SAS, STATA, and related applications;
    • Knowledge of Ontario's healthcare system, OMA's role, and key data/information sources (e.g., CIHI, OHIP, OPRC).
