About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our team at Ontario Glass Werx Inc. As a Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for fabricating metal components and structures to meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine Materials Required: Identify the necessary materials and supplies for each project, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Lay Out Reference Points and Patterns: Create precise layouts and patterns for metal cutting and fabrication, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Plan the Sequence of Tasks: Develop a logical sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently, minimizing waste and maximizing productivity.
  • Study Engineering Drawings and Blueprints: Analyze engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Assemble and Fit Plates and Sections: Assemble and fit metal plates and sections to form structures, ensuring precise fit and finish.
  • Set Up and Operate Heavy-Duty Metal-Working Machines: Safely operate heavy-duty metal-working machines, such as saws, shears, and presses, to cut and shape metal components.
  • Construct Patterns and Templates: Create patterns and templates for metal cutting and fabrication, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Install Fabricated Components: Install fabricated metal components in final products, ensuring precise fit and finish.
  • Rig, Hoist, and Move Materials: Safely rig, hoist, and move materials to storage areas or within the worksite, minimizing risk and ensuring efficient workflow.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in metal fabrication.
