Position Overview

Trans-Canada Capital (TCC) is a leading asset management firm focused on pioneering investment strategies tailored for institutional clients. We are in search of a motivated individual to take on the role of Analyst or Senior Analyst - Sustainable Investment and ESG. Reporting directly to the Chief Compliance and ESG Leader, this position is pivotal in advancing the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) practices at TCC and in assisting investment teams in incorporating ESG factors into their investment methodologies.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with investment teams to educate and assist them in further embedding ESG considerations into investment decision-making and the selection of external managers.
  • Conduct research on ESG best practices.
  • Engage in direct and collaborative engagements.
  • Manage the proxy voting process in alignment with the sustainable voting policy.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports related to sustainable development and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
  • Calculate ESG metrics such as carbon footprint and carbon intensity.
  • Mentor and supervise an intern, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Support TCC and the Sustainable Investment Committee in their ESG initiatives.
  • Participate in various tasks related to sustainable and ESG investing.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field (finance, engineering, environmental science, sustainable development, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Background in finance, sustainable investments, or environmental studies.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in ESG or responsible investing.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and mobilization skills.
  • ESG investment certification from CFA Institute or equivalent is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with VBA and SQL is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg is beneficial.
  • CFA designation or in progress is a plus.
