Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Services (F&CS), you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will be tasked with ensuring compliance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO). Your role will encompass overseeing the financial, human resources, payroll, information technology, reception, and corporate administrative functions to guarantee optimal accuracy and efficiency.

Finance Responsibilities
  • Establish and track key performance indicators for financial and operational effectiveness.
  • Initiate and manage financial sustainability projects to secure the organization’s long-term financial health.
  • Lead the development and execution of the Finance Annual Workplan.
  • Ensure that expenditures align with federal and provincial funding agreements and the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with legal and organizational policies.
  • Prepare financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, for review by the CEO and Board of Governors.
  • Facilitate financial transactions for various agreements under the guidance of relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate the annual financial audit and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Manage timely and accurate processing of remittances and payroll.
  • Review and approve monthly reconciliations and financial transactions.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO regarding financial risks.
Corporate Services Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of Corporate Services initiatives.
  • Manage IT upgrades and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy legislation.
  • Foster relationships with corporate services stakeholders to enhance data integrity and security.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager to develop effective communication strategies.
  • Supervise the creation of corporate communications and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Support HR initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
General Leadership
  • Lead and mentor the Finance and Corporate Services team.
  • Analyze departmental operations and implement necessary improvements.
  • Prepare various forms of correspondence and reports.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Travel as necessary for organizational needs.
Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • CPA Designation is mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in accounting and administration.
  • Proven track record in IT/project management and corporate services.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and issues affecting the community is an asset.
