We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Director to join our team at Loblaw Companies Limited. As a key member of our Produce and Floral Division, you will be responsible for negotiating with vendors to purchase products for our Discount, Market, Wholesale, and SDM divisions.
Key Responsibilities- Meet with Category Directors in Merchandising to understand procurement needs and identify vendors based on a set of criteria/scorecard.
- Negotiate with vendors for cost, including baseline Over & Above case rates, to deliver category targets and budget.
- Work with the Commodity Cost Review team to assess vendor costs relative to market trends.
- Initiate and own the vendor Request for Proposal (RFP) process to source products that align with our category strategy and objectives.
- Share information with Merchandising and Control Brand teams on new products and market trends to inform category strategy and product development.
- Serve as the first point of contact with vendors for cost and supply-related troubleshooting.
- Complete negotiations for new and existing products and collaborate with Category Directors to obtain final decisions.
- Provide insight and input on new sourcing and procurement opportunities tied to market trends, vendor landscape, and cost savings.
- Collaborate with category teams on quality-related issues and participate in supplier-facing enterprise initiatives.
- Accountable for delivering budgeted cost targets and work with Procurement Support team members on new vendor setup and new items requiring signoff.
- Collaborate with Replenishment and Transport teams to resolve major inventory issues and facilitate vendor stock supply chain issues.
- Provide updates to the Senior Director of Procurement on procurement strategies and initiatives and raise risks/decisions as required.
- Conduct and review post-mortem analysis on vendor management and procurement effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work with Merchandising teams to review performance metrics and determine specific actions and support required from a costing and sourcing perspective.
- Guide, coach, and motivate Procurement team members and conduct performance reviews.
- Demonstrated success in a procurement or merchandising role.
- Passion for buying and confident negotiation skills.
- Ability to influence internal and external partners.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and financial skills.
- Strategic attitude with a track record of achieving performance achievements.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
