Job Opportunity
The City of West Kelowna is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Senior Planner. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our city through effective land use management and community planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and assess complex land use applications, ensuring regulatory compliance and utilizing conflict resolution skills.
- Conduct research for major planning projects, monitor development trends, and analyze city-wide policies and urban design issues.
- Lead research efforts to improve development approvals processes and accelerate the availability of housing.
- Manage development applications, coordinate diverse planning initiatives, analyze data, liaise with stakeholders, and oversee consultant work.
- Prepare Council reports and presentations, project administration, and provide direction and support to junior planning staff.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Planning, Architecture, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education or experience.
- 6 years related experience.
- Membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the Canadian Institute of Planners.
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.
- Extensive experience in community planning, policy development, and urban design, especially within a local government context.
- Expertise in land use policies, environmental and legislative regulations, along with strong research and analytical skills.
