We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Simcoe County District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs to achieve academic success and independence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with special needs in a variety of settings, including regular classrooms and learning centers.
- Assist students with toileting, lifting, and mobility as required.
- Develop and implement behavior management systems to support students with challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Relevant university degree or two-year college diploma in the human services field.
- Behavior Management Systems (BMS) training.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavior management techniques.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) preferred.
This is a part-time, permanent position working half-days, 9am-12:30pm. Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees.
