Core Network Specialist – Wireless

We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile IT professional to join our team as a Core Network Specialist – Wireless. This role is responsible for the design, operation, and maintenance of the campus-wide University wireless network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and deploy wireless network services across the campus.
- Address emerging issues that arise during deployment and operation of the network.
- Interact with end-user supporting groups to investigate problems relating to the wireless network.
- Investigate new technologies to expand the capabilities of the wireless network.
- Manage interaction with contractors for wireless deployment.
- Determine institutional suitability and requirements for wireless associated services and devices.
- Work with the DNDCS team to ensure availability and reliability of the core network.
- Utilize monitoring and reporting tools to discover evolving problems.
- Configure routers, switches, and other network devices as required.
- Participate in the DNDCS on-call rotation.
- Respond quickly to any problem that emerges at any time.
- Monitor and facilitate the resolution of problems.
- Bachelor of Science in computing science, engineering, or equivalent experience in design and operation of large-scale wireless networks.
- Wireless networking certifications, including Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Enterprise, Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP).
- Training and experience in large and advanced network operation and design.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center management platform for managing wireless infrastructure.
- Experience with the suite of Cisco Wireless products in the design, deployment, and management of wireless networks in a campus environment.
- Experience with Ekahau wireless survey and design tools for wireless deployment plans in large multi-story buildings.
- Advanced experience and understanding of network protocols and related standards.
- Experience with RADIUS authentication protocol and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Eduroam wireless roaming access service.
- Experience with design/deployment/support of point-to-point wireless infrastructure.
- In-depth network troubleshooting techniques.
- Detailed problem-solving approach and abilities.
- Comfort working with multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, MacOS, iOS, Android.
