Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Municipal Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at the City of Waterloo. As a key member of our enforcement services team, you will be responsible for enforcing municipal by-laws and regulations, ensuring public safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce municipal by-laws and regulations, including the Snow and Ice By-law, through the issuance of orders and tickets, and by facilitating sidewalk clean-ups.
  • Interact with the public to ensure compliance with by-laws and regulations, using effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Record information and facts related to investigations, both manually and electronically.
  • Enforce parking restrictions on city streets, private property, and City parking lots, issuing penalty notices as necessary.
  • Provide backup support to other enforcement officers as required.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma in Police Foundations, Law and Security, or equivalent, with two years of experience in municipal law enforcement, security, and/or other municipal operations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to deal effectively with the public.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete documentation accurately.
  • Strong task management skills and ability to complete work within deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and strong keyboarding skills.
  • Valid MTO 'G' class driver's licence in good standing, with a driver's abstract acceptable to the City.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.

What We Offer
  • A competitive hourly rate of $31.31-$39.14.
