About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Upholsterer to join our team at AMAN FURNITURE MFG AND SALE. As an Upholsterer, you will be responsible for creating high-quality furniture pieces that meet our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Interaction
    • Discuss upholstery fabric, colour and style with customers to ensure their needs are met.
    • Provide cost estimates for upholstering furniture or other items, taking into account the customer's budget and preferences.
  • Furniture Restoration
    • Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts to restore the furniture to its original condition.
    • Lay out, cut, fabricate and install new upholstery to match the original design.
  • Task Execution
    • Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons to add a finishing touch to the furniture.
    • Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces to ensure the furniture is sturdy and visually appealing.
    • Operate sewing machines or sew by hand to create high-quality upholstery.
    • Garnish the bottom and the back of a seat with interoven rattan to add a decorative touch.
  • Industry Experience
    • Furniture and fixtures manufacturing company experience is preferred, but not required.
    • Furniture upholstery and repair shop experience is also an asset.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
    • Manual dexterity is essential for this role, as you will be working with various tools and materials.
    • Attention to detail is crucial to ensure high-quality workmanship.
    • Hand-eye co-ordination is necessary for tasks such as sewing and operating machinery.
    • Ability to distinguish between colours is important for selecting the right fabrics and materials.
    • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling is required for this role.
  • Experience
    • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
