Educational Assistant

Northern Lights Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and energetic individual to join our team as a full-time temporary Educational Assistant for the 2024-2025 school year.
This role involves assisting students with social skills, behavior skills, self-help, and personal care needs in a team environment. The successful candidate will work in an online Kindergarten to Grade 9 school, serving approximately 80 students living in the Northern Lights Public School boundaries and beyond.
We are looking for an individual with post-secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant, as well as knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings, knowledge of documentation procedures, and proficiency with computers.
Preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies, experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs, and familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans.
Training and skills that would be an asset include relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation, SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
