A prominent firm specializing in cost management, project oversight, and risk advisory services is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Director within the Cost Planning division. This position is available in major urban centers. The compensation package is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Director will spearhead significant projects while overseeing a team of 4-8 professionals.
  • Utilize measurement software to quantify materials and generate cost estimates in line with industry standards.
  • Assess probable costs related to materials, labor, and equipment for construction initiatives based on various inputs.
  • Conduct site inspections as necessary to evaluate the cost-to-complete and ongoing work.
  • Offer proactive cost management advice and ensure clients comprehend the details of our reports.
  • Prepare estimates at different design stages, from conceptual to pre-tender.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control checks on cost management reports.
  • Analyze and assess cost variances throughout the estimating process.
  • Conduct change order reviews and lifecycle cost assessments.
  • Develop technical components and fee structures for proposals.
  • Coordinate team workload and resources with the support of the Director.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and empowering team members.
  • Evaluate annual performance reviews for designated team members.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to strategize, manage budgets, and refine internal processes.
  • Engage in networking to promote the business and enhance client relationships.
  • The candidate will be responsible for comprehensive service delivery and act as the primary client liaison, ensuring objectives are met through value-added services.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience.
  • A degree in a related field such as Architectural Building Technology, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Construction Engineering, or Project Management.
  • Professional qualifications such as PQS and/or MRICS are preferred.
  • At least 5 years of management or leadership experience.
  • Participation in professional boards is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Cost X, Planswift, or similar estimating software.
  • Strong understanding of consultant reports and their implications on development proposals.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction sector, including development, contracting, and consultancy services.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills, demonstrating sound judgment and initiative.
  • Capability to build robust working relationships across various levels and respond effectively to stakeholder requests.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-driven with a high level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada or in the process of obtaining a work permit.
