POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with leading a team of Technicians in executing both preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as routine and urgent services for designated facilities. This role entails ensuring that all tasks carried out by Technicians align with established protocols and comply with all internal and external standards, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection regulations. In addition to overseeing personnel, the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will also engage in hands-on maintenance activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership

  • Directs a team of skilled professionals.
  • Allocates, prioritizes, and tracks work assignments.
  • Ensures timely completion of tasks while adhering to operational procedures, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Mentors and trains team members.
  • Contributes to performance evaluations.

Oversees and executes the following:

  • Monitors the activities and performance of Technicians within the assigned facility, ensuring compliance with established processes and standards.
  • Ensures proper application of procedures to meet all operational requirements.
  • Conducts regular inspections and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems to ensure optimal facility performance and asset integrity.
  • Performs facility walkthroughs and equipment inspections.
  • Handles troubleshooting and repairs of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Responds to service requests and conducts maintenance on facility systems.
  • Maintains accurate records within the service management database and initiates documentation for required work approvals.
  • Coordinates the implementation of preventative maintenance programs, ensuring deficiencies are identified and documented.
  • Participates in facility-related projects.
  • Maintains tools and arranges for necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Facilitates training sessions, safety meetings, and operational discussions.
  • Must be available for shift work, on-call duties, and emergency responses.
  • Aims to enhance tenant and customer satisfaction through quality service delivery.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Availability for shift work and emergency responses is essential.
  • Willingness to utilize personal protective equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A minimum of 5 years in facility operations and maintenance.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred.
  • High school diploma along with relevant trades training and certification.
  • Proven ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Strong adherence to operational processes related to facility maintenance.
  • Advanced skills in maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting building systems.
  • Current knowledge of safety codes and standards.
  • Commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices.
  • Strong client-service orientation with a sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification.

CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Journeyman Refrigeration license.
  • Journeyman Electrical license.
  • Journeyman Plumbing license.
  • Power Engineering 3rd or 4th Class certification.
  • Building Operator Certification.
  • Gasfitter I or II certification.
  • Systems Maintenance Administration Certification is an asset.
