Job Title: Utilities Project Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utilities Project Coordinator to join our team at Aecon Concessions. As a Utilities Project Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by providing field-engineering information to the project management team and sub-trades.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet with project crews daily to review production schedules and confirm materials, equipment, and resources are available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance and document daily activities in Company-approved methods and technologies.
  • Notify team members and manager of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work completes, initiating and managing appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
  • Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins, and initiate and manage any permits needed before work can begin.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule, and crews as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary school education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines or an acceptable combination of education and previous experience.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in project engineering or heavy civil construction environments.
  • Familiarity with City of Calgary Storm and Sewer Infrastructure is an asset.
  • Experience with underground utilities, including water, sewer, and drainage systems.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the project.
  • Bridge building experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in software related to the construction industry, such as Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, and SAP.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility to work in both field and office environments.
