Job Overview

Core Responsibilities

Key Duties:

  • Lead and manage transportation engineering projects from initial concept through detailed design and construction phases.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, impact evaluations, and traffic studies.
  • Create engineering drawings, specifications, and budget estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • Offer technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and technical personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards.
  • Engage in public consultations and stakeholder involvement activities.
  • Compile reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Track project advancement and implement adjustments as needed to guarantee successful outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Alberta, or eligibility to obtain it.
  • 3-6 years of experience in transportation engineering, particularly in road and highway design.
  • Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and traffic analysis tools (e.g., SYNCHRO, VISSIM).
  • Strong grasp of transportation planning principles, traffic engineering, and geometric design standards.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
