About the Role

We are seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field work and office work, supporting the growth of our office, and working on projects locally in the Yukon, NWT, and northern B.C., as well as providing support across Canada and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct historical data reviews and site inspections.
  • Perform groundwater monitoring and sampling.
  • Conduct hydraulic conductivity testing.
  • Collect surface soil and water samples.
  • Conduct soil vapour sampling.
  • Supervise drilling activities.
  • Install groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Supervise remedial excavations.
  • Document site activities through photography and written reports.
  • Communicate with on-site personnel and project managers.
  • Assist in communicating with clients.
  • Promote Health and Safety programs and culture.
  • Work collaboratively with other regions as opportunities arise.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree from a relevant program.
  • Eligibility for professional designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA).
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in project execution, contractor supervision, and project coordination.
  • Experience working in the north and in the mining sector is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, highly motivated, strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Capable of understanding and applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
  • Will to undertake field work year-round and travel throughout Northern and Western Canada.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and businesses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Valid Class 5 Full driver's license with a clean driving record.
