Key Responsibilities:- Provide patient care and support in an enthusiastic way, building a personal connection at every visit.
- Ensure patients receive optimal hygiene treatment based on clinical findings and their goal for comprehensive oral health.
- Collect patient's dental and relevant medical history, to reference during examinations.
- Prepare patients for the Orthodontist.
- Prepare patient and equipment for X-Rays.
- Taking X-Rays and following all safety procedures as required.
- Examine gums for infections or gum disease.
- Clean patient's teeth to remove plague, polish, floss and brush.
- Bonding and removal of brackets and orthodontic appliances.
- Placing and removing arch wires.
- Educate patients on good oral hygiene habits and treatment progress.
- Updating patient records and examination notes.
- Perform all lab duties/requirements as instructed by the Orthodontist or leadership team.
- Prepare and maintain all dental instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Call patients for aftercare and answer questions.
- Travel to satellite locations if/when necessary.
- 2+ years' experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred but not required.
- Experience in an orthodontic office is required.
- Successful completion of a Dental Hygiene Diploma or Hygiene Degree program.
Registered and/or licensed by the dental hygiene regulatory authority within the province, in good standing. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written and verbal, and an ability to make patients feel comfortable and at ease. Great time management and organizational skills. Current CPR and First Aid training.
