Job Title: Youth Counsellor

We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Youth Counsellor at Vantage Community Services.

Job Summary:

The Youth Counsellor will be responsible for providing a structured environment that fosters the development of personal and social functioning for each youth. The successful candidate will be an effective role model, work effectively with other team members, and develop therapeutic relationships with youth in the program.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain a structured environment that promotes personal and social growth for each youth.
  • Be an effective and mature role model for youth to utilize in their growth.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to provide a therapeutic milieu.
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with youth through the Circle of Courage model.
  • Participate in supervisory meetings, team meetings, and in-service training as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the upkeep of the group care living space.
  • Perform various tasks associated with program functioning, including meal preparation, cleaning, and transportation of youth.
  • Administer medication according to policy and CAC standards.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Human Services, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with young people is preferred.
  • Current Standard First Aid/Level C CPR, PIC, IRC, and Valid Driver's License are required.

Vantage Community Services offers a competitive salary range of $36,811 - $48,811, plus an additional shift differential for overnight shifts. We also provide a great benefit package, including health, dental, life, and disability coverage, a Registered Pension Plan, and generous vacation time.
