About the Role

As a Supply Educational Assistant, you will work directly with students who require special support and accommodations, providing assistance with daily living tasks, educational programs, and behavioral interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with personal care and hygiene, including toileting, catheterizing, and life skills.
  • Administer medication in accordance with Board policies and regulations.
  • Support students in occupational, physio, speech, and other therapy programs.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and tracking of instructional programs.
  • Assist with the supervision of in-school and out-of-school student activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure student success.
Requirements
  • Requires a high school diploma and two years of specialized training, such as an Educational Assistant Program, Child Youth Worker, Autism Support Worker, or Personal Support Worker.
  • Requires knowledge of strategies and experience supporting students with special needs.
  • Requires knowledge of pertinent Board policies and directives, such as Physical Intervention, Discipline, Administration of Medication, and Special Services.
  • Requires operating audio-visual and office equipment, such as computers, projectors, and photocopiers.
  • Requires performing physical duties, such as lifting and positioning students, and implementing Behavior Management Systems and physical intervention strategies.
  • Requires effective communication and collaboration with students, teachers, parents, and community agencies.
