About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Indigenous Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing culturally appropriate nursing and intermediary services to First Nations, Metis, and Inuit clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Act as a liaison between clients, families, service providers, and community agencies to enhance service delivery and promote cultural safety.
  2. Conduct client assessments and screenings, identifying clients and referring them to appropriate services as eligible.
  3. Provide education and promote health promotion initiatives to individuals, families, and Indigenous communities to increase knowledge, capacity, and resources for holistic wellness.
  4. Act as the point of contact to assist with health system navigation and liaise with programs and services across Fraser Health and community partners.
  5. Represent Indigenous Health to medical, care, and support staff, and to community agencies and their staff, by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Indigenous Health and cultural practices.
  6. Participate in committees that integrate Indigenous Health with hospital, community, and MHSU programs, providing input and addressing Indigenous Health issues.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two (2) years' recent, relevant nursing experience and related experience providing support services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous health approaches, protocol, and cultural issues.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence and access to own vehicle.
