Role Overview:

In the capacity of a Junior Business Intelligence Operations Analyst, your primary focus will be on acquiring knowledge and understanding of BI operations, resources, and procedures. Your responsibilities will encompass providing frontline support, which includes diagnosing and resolving production challenges, proactively overseeing schedules, and engaging in change management activities.

Required Technologies:

  • Proficiency in key programming languages (e.g., Python), data querying languages (e.g., SQL, including stored procedures), and statistical analysis languages (e.g., R).
  • Familiarity with Production Operations and Tools is advantageous; this includes Incident Management tools (e.g., ServiceNow), BI tool architecture and functionalities (e.g., MicroStrategy, Shiny App, SAS), version control and release management systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, Bitbucket), analytic services (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Spark), database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Netezza), data integration and workflow applications (e.g., StoneBranch), and ETL services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS).

Impact Creation:

  • Extracting, cleansing, reconciling, and preparing data necessary for effective problem resolution.
  • Conducting diagnostic analyses using established methodologies and resolving issues in accordance with standard practices.
  • Gaining insights into the capabilities and limitations of existing data environments (e.g., Synapse production, R server, and MicroStrategy).
  • Effectively communicating findings and insights to colleagues and management.
  • Exercising sound judgment to assess the reasonableness of data results.

Qualifications:

  • Up to two years of experience in computer science, customer service, call center, or a related field.
  • A post-secondary degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of data analysis, programming tools, modeling techniques, data warehousing/data management, architecture/design, and research methodologies.
  • This role primarily interacts with predominantly non-francophone groups and teams located outside of Québec, necessitating proficiency in English. Essential non-French duties cannot be delegated to adjacent or other team members.
