About the Role

Cowan Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Business Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Personal Insurance department, you will be responsible for conducting thorough operational and quality file reviews, identifying areas for improvement, and collaborating with senior auditors, trainers, and leaders to implement changes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and understand business risks related to client files, identifying potential areas of concern and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct comprehensive Personal Insurance operational and quality file reviews, providing detailed feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior auditors, trainers, and leaders to develop and implement process improvements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to staff members and leaders on audit results, training needs, and workflow improvements.
  • Assess the quality of supporting documentation within brokerage files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Research and provide recommendations on workflow improvements, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and reporting of internal audit projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Review insurer audit findings and compliance requirements, providing expert analysis and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior auditor, trainers, and leaders within the organization to develop and implement effective solutions.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the personal insurance industry, with a strong background in auditing operational processes.
  • RIBO License or ability to obtain, with CAIB or CIP designation an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to summarize complex data in clear, concise language.
  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and staff members.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Experience using EPIC, an Applied Systems broker management application, an asset.
