POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring that all plant systems function efficiently, reliably, and safely.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise skilled trades personnel in a unionized environment.
- Ensure that plant systems operate in a cost-effective and reliable manner.
- Oversee managerial functions such as interviewing, training, performance evaluation, and addressing employee concerns.
- Drive initiatives for plant system enhancements.
- Maintain operational costs while ensuring high equipment reliability.
- Lead plant operations to promote efficient practices and maintain awareness of potential future challenges.
- Collaborate closely with the Malting Manager and Production Supervisors to address labor and production matters.
- Propose and implement enhancements to production workflows.
- Manage contractor relationships and liaise with regulatory bodies.
- Oversee maintenance budgets and capital expenditures as necessary.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven supervisory experience, ideally within a maintenance context.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance strategies and their execution.
- Understanding of the malting and brewing processes is advantageous.
- Capability to plan and execute maintenance repairs and capital projects.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards.
- Experience with unionized employee relations.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with database and manufacturing software.
- Familiarity with timekeeping systems.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
- Journeyperson certification as an Electrician or Millwright is preferred.
- Experience in plant maintenance, particularly in food or grain processing, is advantageous.
- Professional Engineering credentials are a plus.
- Relevant experience and/or educational qualifications will be considered.
