Position Overview

BGC Engineering Inc. is looking for a dedicated student intern to join our cutting-edge soil and rock testing laboratory. This facility specializes in evaluating the strength, compressibility, and permeability of soil, as well as conducting strength assessments of rock materials. Our laboratory is equipped with advanced testing machinery, including cyclic dynamic simple shear and fully-automated triaxial systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct various geotechnical laboratory tests, including:
    • Index testing for soil and rock samples.
    • Support advanced testing procedures for soil and rock materials.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate the execution of laboratory tests, ensuring multiple projects are managed simultaneously.
  • Compile and prepare detailed laboratory reports.
  • Participate in fieldwork to collect samples for laboratory analysis as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Completion of at least two years in a Civil or Geological Engineering program, with a focus on geotechnical engineering.
  • Familiarity with index testing methods for soils and rocks is advantageous.
  • Practical experience with tools and equipment related to plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
