About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Paralegal to join our team at OTIP RAEO. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in managing legal issues and minimizing risk exposures for our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage legal agreements, contracts, and documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimize risk exposures.
  • Provide expert advice to business leaders on legal matters, including contract review, drafting, and negotiation.
  • Collaborate with external counsel to ensure efficient and effective legal processes.
  • Develop and maintain corporate records, including minute books, resolutions, and by-laws.
  • Stay up-to-date with applicable laws, regulations, and policies to ensure knowledge management of legal issues impacting our organization.
  • Communicate legal issues and risks to project managers and business leaders, as required.

Requirements:

  • Licensed paralegal with five years' experience in contract and corporate law, preferably in an insurance or financial institution.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, contract law, and excellent knowledge of federal and provincial statutes and procedures relevant to areas of practice.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and decision-making skills to prioritize tasks based on business need, risk, and impact.
  • Able to take initiative and deliver high-quality work, occasionally under tight timelines, with minimal supervision and high attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, legal software, and tools for document management.
  • The ability to communicate in French (verbal and written) is considered an asset.
