Facilities Maintenance Lead

The Facilities Maintenance Lead role is pivotal in overseeing and directing the efforts of both skilled and unskilled maintenance personnel. This position ensures that all methods and procedures are adhered to for the upkeep, repair, and servicing of machinery, structures, and facilities, in alignment with industry regulations and safety protocols. The primary focus is on sustaining production machinery to meet organizational benchmarks while minimizing equipment downtime. Additionally, this role involves inspecting projects to confirm adherence to specifications, leading safety evaluations, and implementing preventative maintenance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and guide the maintenance team in the absence of the maintenance manager.
  2. Foster positive employee relations, addressing grievances and providing support to team members.
  3. Conduct regular departmental meetings to ensure clear communication.
  4. Perform performance assessments for all maintenance staff.
  5. Ensure the availability of necessary parts and supplies.
  6. Oversee all preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  7. Maintain PMX software and associated documentation.
  8. Collaborate with the maintenance buyer to obtain contractor quotes.
  9. Mentor and direct all maintenance personnel.
  10. Ensure that all contractors possess the required documentation.
  11. Review completed inspection reports to verify that maintenance and repair tasks are executed satisfactorily.
  12. Analyze assembly diagrams to identify required components and their assembly.
  13. Establish work schedules and prioritize tasks to address emergencies and changes.
  14. Develop and oversee detailed maintenance schedules for tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  15. Manage operational and project budgets effectively.
  16. Coordinate job tasks with junior staff, colleagues, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  1. Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
  2. Journeyperson certification in a relevant trade is advantageous.
  3. MMP (Maintenance Management Professional) certification is a plus.
  4. A minimum of five years in a maintenance machining environment, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft and other relevant software applications.
  6. Commitment to continuous learning to stay updated with technological advancements and regulatory changes.
  7. Knowledge of fire alarm systems and compliance with relevant codes.
  8. Experience in automotive manufacturing is essential.
