Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cook to join our culinary team at CB Canada. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist the culinary team in preparing and cooking food items, adhering to safety and hygiene policies and procedures.
- Culinary Knowledge: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all culinary aspects, including cooking techniques, ingredient preparation, and menu planning.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and organize all related work equipment and areas, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Inventory Management: Prepare and stock ingredients and supplies for daily operations, ensuring accurate inventory levels and minimizing waste.
- Meat and Poultry Preparation: Butcher meats and poultry to required specifications, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Soup and Sauce Preparation: Prepare basic soups and sauces, adhering to recipes and quality standards.
- Dessert Preparation: Prepare basic desserts, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Vegetable and Fruit Preparation: Cut, slice, chop, and peel vegetables and fruits to required specifications, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Restocking and Cleaning: Restock and clean all related work equipment and areas, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Quality and Presentation: Prepare food to quality and presentation standards, ensuring all guidelines and recipes are met.
- Teamwork and Communication: Maintain positive and professional interactions with colleagues, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.
Requirements:
- Culinary Skills: Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, demonstrating a high level of culinary skill and knowledge.
- Experience: Minimum two years' experience in a high-volume restaurant or banquet environment, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality food preparation and presentation.
- Certifications: Valid Food Safe Certificate (Levels 1) and willingness to undergo and pass a criminal record check.
- Personal Qualities: Outgoing, professional, customer-driven individual with strong people skills, able to work well in a team environment and take initiative when needed.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, with a demonstrated commitment to physical fitness and well-being.
