Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Equinox Engineering Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead the mechanical team on various oil and gas projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery of mechanical engineering services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the mechanical team on projects, overseeing the work of junior engineers, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Monitoring project schedules and budgets, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design and delivery of projects.
  • Specifying, evaluating, and selecting oil and gas processing equipment, including pipelines, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Preparing engineering scope of work packages, working with vendors to supply mechanical equipment, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Checking vendor equipment drawings for design accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Interfacing with clients, project teams, and vendors to define project scope, resolve technical issues, and assist with procurement documents.
  • Ensuring consistency and integrity of all major equipment in accordance with codes and specifications.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering and a P. Eng. designation from APEGA.
  • Minimum 7-15 years of experience in oil and gas projects, preferably in a lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Sec. VIII, CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, TEMA, and API codes.
  • Experience with NACE standards and its application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Package engineering experience and proficiency in specifying and procuring mechanical equipment.
