We are seeking an Engineer specializing in LP Leak Detection and CPM Maintenance who will be responsible for the configuration, upkeep, quality assurance testing, and optimization of leak detection Computational Pipeline Monitoring (CPM) systems and associated technologies to ensure peak leak detection efficiency in alignment with regulatory standards and internal protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, implement, and support CPM-based leak detection systems, including testing, tuning, commissioning, and installation of operational systems.
  • Monitor production leak detection systems, conduct root cause analysis, and execute necessary updates following established Management of Change processes.
  • Provide Software Engineering expertise for software developments within Leak Detection and support related software initiatives.
  • Conduct leak detection system checks to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Regularly review and update all leak detection model documentation to maintain compliance with current standards and review cycles, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Participate in a rotational 24/7 on-call backup support for Control Centre Leak Detection Analysts.
  • Assess leak detection systems and propose enhancements to management for additional instrumentation to improve performance, supporting submissions for capital budget cycles and long-range planning.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of Leak Detection standards.
  • Provide onboarding and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Actively engage with industry organizations focusing on advancing leak detection technology and regulations through presentations and contributions to new industry standards.
Qualifications:
  • Registered, or eligible for registration as a professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Leak Detection Engineer supporting liquid pipelines.
  • Proficient in software development with knowledge of Python, C, or C++.
  • Experience with real-time transient model software and/or statistical modeling software.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Control Centre operations and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, VISIO, JIRA, and PI.
  • Understanding of North American leak detection regulatory requirements.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is conducted in an office environment during standard business hours.
  • Participation in a 24/7 on-call backup support rotation for Leak Detection Analysts and production leak detection systems.
  • May require assistance with incident investigations outside regular business hours.
  • Potential travel within North America for fluid withdrawal tests or training.
