About the Early Learning Centre

The Early Learning Centre is a licensed laboratory early learning and care centre that offers a program for children ages sixteen months to five years. It serves as a unique demonstration model of exemplary practice in early learning and is an active learning environment for students in the Early Childhood Studies degree program.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team. The successful candidate will plan, implement, and maintain programming for toddler and preschool children, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. They will also create and maintain relationships with children's families and internal and external stakeholders to provide the best possible care to each child.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement programming for children, including curriculum development and implementation
  • Document children's progress and maintain accurate records
  • Meet with families to discuss their child's progress and provide support
  • Conduct presentations and workshops for families and staff
  • Support field placement students and provide guidance and mentorship
  • Participate in research and contribute to the development of the early childhood education field
Qualifications
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field of early childhood education and care
  • Registered member of the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators and in good standing
  • Knowledge of teaching practices and methods, including inquiry-based approaches
  • Knowledge of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education's early learning documents
  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to and experience with principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Ability to work independently and within a variety of team structures
Working Conditions

The working hours for this position will normally be 10:00am to 6:00pm, with occasional need to work alternate hours due to operational needs.
