We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Canada Building Materials. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective health and safety programs to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor and assess health and safety practices, providing guidance and support to employees and management.
- Collaborate with operations teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and develop strategies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide training and education to employees on health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of health and safety performance, including incident reports, training records, and compliance documentation.
- College diploma or undergraduate degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in a heavy industry such as construction, mining, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
