Measurement Technician, Fabrication Specialist

Job Opportunity Overview
Aecon is seeking a skilled Measurement Technician, Fabrication to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project. As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to provide measurement services for the construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications to understand dimensional features and tolerances for planned fabrications.
- Develop and implement measurement procedures for fabricated components, ensuring adherence to project data management and reporting procedures.
- Operate and maintain laser tracker systems, utilizing inspection tools and other required measurement devices to measure components for conformance to dimensional tolerances.
- Generate and distribute timely reports on the status of component geometry dimensions and conformance, ensuring accurate and reliable data for project stakeholders.
- Participate in shift planning meetings to understand fabrication throughput plans and reporting requirements, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with fabrication teams.
- Perform shop walks to anticipate and plan upcoming measurement activities, ensuring efficient and effective measurement processes.
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives aimed at continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing changes to improve measurement accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a fabrication, machining, or mechanical technology role, with a strong understanding of dimensional measurement principles and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications, with experience utilizing inspection tools and laser trackers.
- Strong computer skills, with experience in 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD or Inventor, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Competent in basic computing and network configurations, with the ability to lift at least 50 pounds and climb ladders if required.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with elevated noise levels, adhering to all relevant safety standards and protocols.
- Understanding of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
