This facility is also pioneering in its use of geothermal heating and is designed to incorporate solar panels in the future.

Role Overview:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering personal assistance and support for daily living activities to patients who require either temporary or ongoing care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating closely with patients, families, and caregivers across various care settings.
  • Assisting nurses in providing routine care that addresses patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
  • Facilitating organized activities and programs while observing and reporting on patients' emotional and physical well-being.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors under the guidance of regulated health professionals.
  • Ensuring effective communication with patients and healthcare providers.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and hold active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program, who have completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum, may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a Continuing Care Unit and familiarity with Medication Administration (MAPs) are advantageous. A commitment to teamwork, ongoing learning, and participation in interdisciplinary discussions is essential.
