Key Responsibilities- Provide Primary Care Services: Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments, and take medical histories to evaluate patients' physical and mental health.
- Order Diagnostic Tests: Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures as needed to inform patient care.
- Prescribe Medications: Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary to manage patient conditions.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide Health Education: Educate patients on healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Experience: Experience in a correctional facility or similar setting is an asset.
- Licensure: Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner by the province/territory of work.
- Certifications: Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant areas.
- Work Environment: Correctional facility setting with a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, and kneel as required.
- Security Clearance: Must obtain and maintain a criminal record check.
