About the Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team in the Red Deer Children's Addiction & Mental Health portfolio. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a larger team to ensure safe and secure detoxification and assessment over approximately 10 days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to clients and families with addiction and mental health services, according to the client's service plan and/or treatment plan.
- Utilize a client-centered approach to provide support and assistance to promote higher functioning, including social, physical and emotional well-being, while fostering self-determination and independence.
- Work in a variety of community settings to provide support and assistance to clients and families.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years' experience working with child and adolescent population in a mental health setting.
- Critical thinking skills are required daily in this position.
- An ability to work independently and part of as team as necessary.
- Understands the importance of a trauma informed care approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset are considered an asset.
