Senior Actuarial Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Pensions & Benefits Centre of Excellence at Loblaw Companies Limited. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing consulting and benefits support in the oversight and administration of health & wellness programs enterprise-wide.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the management of all group benefit plans, including the review and revision of policies and the calculation of cost implications of plan redesign or union negotiating demands.
- Assist in the preparation of forecasting for the annual benefits budget for business operations.
- Develop and maintain a dashboard of key program metrics and statistics.
- Analysis of member data to generate insights to help inform health & wellness program strategy.
- Ensure benefit plans are operating in accordance with legislation, company guidelines, and union collective agreements.
- Assist with the investigation and resolution of escalated benefit issues to provide information in non-routine situations.
- Assist with the evaluation and comparison of existing employee benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities and develop policies.
- Special project work, including acquisitions, harmonization, and plan design.
- Be the primary contact for day-to-day program support.
- Develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including internal business partners, other departments, service providers, vendors, and consultants.
- Draft and review plan member communication.
- 1 to 5 years of benefits actuarial consulting experience or recent graduate from an actuarial science program with actuarial exams.
- Preferred education in Actuarial Sciences, Math, Statistics, or Finance.
- Strong project management, analytical, and mathematical skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong communication (both verbal and written) skills.
- Client-focused and pro-active.
- Proven ability to be innovative and resourceful while prioritizing and handling multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
- Work effectively in a team environment, and contribute to a positive, effective team atmosphere.
- Possess a strong work ethic, is responsible, and reliable.
- Advanced in Excel and thorough knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
- Other assets include fluency in French (not required) and ASA designation or pursuit of actuarial designation.
